              Lesson 1

There are two very important rules a great Parakeet owner should follow and give their pet:Love and trust.
If you would like to have a long, happy life with budgie, you'll have to give him/her plenty of love and trust so he/she would also trust you.

Now that your ready to start your bird's training, choose a journal to keep your Parakeet's behavior during school time.Have the journal? Now choose a quiet room with people and motion, and soft music so he/she could get an idea of the real world.
Start by putting your hands around his/her cage for at least 5 minutes. If he/she is OK with it, put your hand inside budgie's cage in a nonthreatning position, without touching him/her.If he's/she's not scared, rub his/her belly delicately with your index finger. Not bad, huh?Try this every day so your Parakeet will trust your hand.

        Lesson 2

Now you're ready to sit keet on your finger.Just remember, never attempt to sit him/her on your shoulder right away.Follow these quick rules to carry your bird around the house without the heavy cage.

First, gently approach your index finger towards him/her.Slowly so you won't frighten your bird, rub his/her belly, until he's/she's OK with it.Softly press your index finger on his/her abdonomen, urging him/her to sit on your finger. But if she or he is not in the mood, don't press him/her to much or he'll/she'll get mad and probably bite.Try this everyday until budgie gives up and finally sits.
Once you've managed to get him/her to sit, leave him and your finger inside for a few minutes.

  Lesson 3
Now,you must have practiced for days, haven't you?
So now,you can gently approach your parakeet with your hand.If he/she doesn't seem scared, put on a glove in case he/she bites you.Push your index finger on his/her abdomen softly, and patiently wait for budgie to jump on your finger.Don't expect him to jump away at first.He/she will now when he/she is ready.

Another way:

If you have a lot of birds like me,try catching them GENTLY with your hand wrapped around a towel.Make sure his/her head and claws are sticking out.Don't press budgie too hard!So then, set his/her talons on your finger, but don't let go.After a little while,do let go,He/she might stay perched on your finger,or he'll/she'll jump off.Keep trying, still!
